Cynthia 'Ena' (Nunn) McCrary, 73, was born Thursday, June 24, 1943, in Denver, Colorado to Ward Nunn and Dorothy Ethel (Nunn) Williams. She grew up in Denver, Colorado before relocating to Kansas City with her mother around the age of five. As a lifelong area resident, Cynthia attended both Catholic and public schools in Kansas City, graduating from high school in the class of 1961. She obtained enough college credits to earn an Associate's degree. Upon graduation, she went to work for the post office in 1961 and retired in 1972 for medical reasons. Cynthia had a passion for animals. Over the years, she raised a few: Muffet, Airmoso, Streak, Ragnor, Chaka Zulu, Dickey, Pee-Wee, Shadow, Mister, Bryce and Titan. She also loved reading, gardening, arts and crafts, her flowers, sewing, cooking and Snickers. She was extremely smart and a Jeopardy enthusiast. She was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, great grandmother and friend. Cynthia departed this life on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Anthony McCrary. She leaves to cherish her life: one son, Stephen Douglas McCrary; two daughters, Debora Elaine McCrary-Eldridge (Charles) and Kellye Yvonne McCrary; five grandchildren, Corey McCrary (LaKisha), Angie Bolton (Gerry), Courtney McCrary, Ashleigh McMickle, and Kori McCrary; two great grandchildren, Corey McCrary, Jr. and Jamesha Bolton; and dear friends, Donna Peters, Beth Finlay, Shirley Finch and Bernie Attawia. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 4, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel.
