Cynthia Ann Stephens was born on February 2, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to James Weaver and Lorraine King. She was the eldest of five children born to this union. She was preceded in death by her father, James Weaver; mother, Lorraine Weaver; and sister, Carolyn Weaver.
Cynthia Stephens graduated from Bishop Lillis High School, Kansas City, Missouri in 1968. She went on to attend Madison Area Technical College in Madison, WI and received an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts in 1970.
Cynthia (Weaver) Stephens was married to Ronnie Stephens on January 17, 1976 in Kansas City, MO. To this union was born her only child, Shana.
She was employed by Cigna Health Insurance for 18 years. She was most recently employed by the Internal Revenue Service for 23 years, up until her retirement on February 1, 2015.
Cynthia was known for her generosity and witty sense of humor. She was loved by many and made a lasting impression on everyone that she met. She worked two jobs most of her adult life but when she had free time, she enjoyed spending it in Madison, WI with her aunt, Maxine. She loved to cook and spend time with her husband, daughter, and grandchildren. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing Jeopardy with her daughter, watching daytime soap operas, and listening to the sounds of Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, and Smokey Robinson.
She departed this life on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, MO.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Ronnie Stephens; her daughter, Shana Stephens; two granddaughters, Quiani Middlebrooks and Dei'Anna Jones; two brothers, James (Eddie) Weaver and Michael Weaver; her sister, Phyllis Weaver Bishop (Lonny); her aunts, Maxine Wallace and Ruby Weaver; two nephews; five nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial service Friday, July 10, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Service conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to the COVID 19 Panademic guest attending visitation/services are required to wear masks.
