Debra Lynette Shoates, 62, was born January 21, 1957 to Clifford Shoates and Ruby Jean Herron in Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents Mable Foster Mack and Willie Drew.

Lynette attended public school in Kansas City, Missouri. She obtained a GED and later became a certified nurses aide. She worked at various nursing homes in Muskogee, Oklahoma and Kansas City.

She was baptized at an early age at Fredonia Baptist Church, Kansas City, Mo and later rededicated her life to Christ at Canaan Baptist Church, Kansas City, Mo.

Lynette loved her grandchildren and would spend her last dime on them! She enjoyed watching movies, reality shows and she loved her cat, Jean.

Lynette departed life on February 23, 2019 surrounded by her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her father who loved and raised her, Edward Thomas (Hattye); son, Michael (Laura); her siblings, Donna Robinson (Jimmy), Janice Sprull (Derek), Edward "Tony" (Sherrie) and LaTanya Lewis (Fred). Also left to remember her fondly are four grandchildren, one great grandchild, nephews, nieces, and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services Saturday, March 2, 12:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
