Delores "Dee Dee" Allen (age 90), daughter of the late John Land and Fleta Woodson was born June 16, 1930 in LaCygne, Kansas. She went on to receive her Heavenly crown and robe on July 1, 2020. Delores' only child, Larry Watson, preceded her in death.
She attended school in the Kansas City Missouri Public School District. Delores obtained her nursing credentials from St. Mary's Medical. One of her greatest career accomplishments was working over 25 years at Research Medical Center in the surgery department. Delores' love, care, and passion for people did not end after retiring from Research Medical Center. She went on to work as a private duty nurse for many years after she retired spreading love to everyone she encountered.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was an active member for over 40 years at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She served on many boards and various auxiliaries. Delores served with grace and love on the Bereavement Committee, Kitchen Committee, Usher Board, Women's Auxiliary and in the Senior Choir at Zion Grove.
For over 30 Years, Delores was an active and faithful member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. She served locally and nationally as Chapter Representative of the Kansas City Chapter. She also served nationally as an usher on the GMWA Usher Board. and she sang in the James Cleveland Chorus. The GMWA opened doors for Delores to meet many people from across the world. She lived out the scripture Matthew 4:19. Delores was a fisher of men. She led people of many talents to Christ through the GMWA. Spreading love through her smile, hugs, and wisdom, she was a real soldier on the battlefield for the Lord.
The Lord created Delores with such a great heart. During her golden years, she took on the responsibility to care for her nieces four children. Delores raised four beautiful children as her own with the help of her very close and dear friend Lorretta Summers.
Her wonderful legacy will be cherished and carried on by her family; brother Darrell Woodson Sr. (Mary), sister Verretta Woodson, sister in law Aretta Woodson, the 4 beautiful children Tyesha Randle , Natasha Clemons (Eugene), Theodore "Teddy" Armstrong, and Stephanie Bell, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service Saturday, July 11, 2020, 1:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. at chapel. Service conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shard on our website. Due to the COVID 19 Panademic guest attending visitation/services are required to wear masks.
