Obituary

Delores J. Hamlett (Muffy) o Lee's Summit, Mo., passed away June 5, 2021, at home. Delores (Muffy) was born October 10, 1946, in Kansas City, KS., to Lawrence McClain and Geraldine Dooley. She was the 2nd born of 4 children. Delores (Muffy) was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Dooley; father, Lawrence McClain; stepfather, Loys Dooley; her grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Delores (Muffy) was educated in the Kansas City, Mo School District. She attended Lincoln High School, and later graduated from Paseo High School. She accepted Christ at an early age. Muffy married James Gipson and to this union 2 children were born, Jami Gipson and Yevette Gipson. She later married Phillip Hamlett and to this union 1 child was born Felisha Hamlett. Everyone knew our mama by the affectionate nick name that her grandmother gave her "Muffy". Muffy was the fighter and protector of her siblings. She would fight a dead rattlesnake for them….she was never scared, she fought boys and girls…lol. And she did the exact same for her girls. She taught us that anything was possible. She did so much as a single parent, sacrificed so much, went without so much. With that being said, our mother was the TRUTH. Delores (Muffy) had many talents. She was an over the road truck driver, a computer analyst, a cosmetologist, an office clerk, a car salesman, an entrepreneur, she worked in health care, for the railroad, Las Vegas Police Department, and an esthetician. YOU KNOW A JACK OF ALL TRADES. Muffy leaves to cherish her memory, her brother Lawrence McClain (Monico), her 2 sisters, Cynthia Dixon, and Lois Dooley-Franklin (Lee); 3 daughters, Jami Gipson, Yevette Gipson-Handy (Derek), and Felisha Hamlett-Haman (Damien); 7 grandchildren, Adriann Gipson, Leon Jackson III, Antwainette Gipson, Jamishia Gipson, Ashley Gipson, Chloe Haman, Damien Haman Jr.; 13 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
