Derrick Arnell
Hubbard
May 28, 1978 — Oct 21, 2016
The Journey Begins Derrick Arnell Hubbard, 38, was born May 28, 1978 in Kansas City, Missouri to Chester Oliver Hubbard and Margaret Ann Brown. Those who preceded him in death were his paternal grandparents; beloved sister Sharron Hudspeth; much loved and supported mother-in-law, Sharon Sneed; and recently his father-in-law Larry Sneed, who he loved and cared for until his passing. 'Bo' was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri public schools. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was employed at Monterrey Park Nursing Home in Independence, Missouri. Bo loved his family and friends. He was devoted to his mother however, the two things that made his journey complete were the day he became a father to his son, Montell and a husband to his beloved wife, Stacey. The two were married on March 11, 2006 and together they raised four beautiful children. His greatest joy was being a father to Montell, a special young man with autism. Bo had the love, patience and presence of mind to help him succeed and achieve in every way, with Stacey at his side. Bo was a hard working man who loved people. He was dedicated to his siblings and friends as someone they could rely on. He was truly the light of any room he entered. He also loved showing off his cooking skills and was a devout Kansas City Chiefs fan. The Journey Ends On Friday, October 21, 2016, sadly Bo's journey ended. A wonderful light went out, a boisterous voice, joyful laughter and contagious smile was replaced with broken hearts and questions of 'why'. He leaves to cherish his many memories: his loving wife, Stacey Hubbard; sons, Montell Johnson and Jakob Skinner (Danielle); daughters, Ashley Van Becelaere (Jake) and Rosa Thilges (Malcolm); father, Chester O. Hubbard; mother, Margaret A. Winters (Ernest); stepfather, Billy Birmingham (Tandra); grandparents, James C. Brown, Sr., Gussie Brown and Treaver J. Brown; brothers, Calvin E. Brooks, Jr., Billy Birmingham, Jr. (Tamika), Jason Wren and Gregory Cooperwood; sisters, Tiffany C. Penaye (Albert) Octavia Standley (Dean), Gayla Watson, Shilah R. Hubbard and Constance D. Hubbard; grandchildren, Maurice Skinner, Natalie Skinner, Riley Van Becelaere and Hunter Thilges; special friends, Rashon English (Kelly) and Rueben Jacob(Casey); a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 5, 11:00 a.m. at Pentecostal Church of God In Christ. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
