Domonique Lucero Cook Jr. (lovingly referred to as DJ) was born April 2, 2012 to Domonique Lucero Cook, Sr. and Jasmine DeShawn Addison Caples in Kansas City, Missouri. DJ was preceded in death by his father, Domonique Sr.; sister, Nevaeh Cook; uncle, Jason Addison; and aunt, Courtney Addison. Though DJ was born with medical challenges, he persevered in everything he did. He never let it stop him from running, playing, tying his shoe, and learning things a normal kid his age would do. DJ was very proud about how fast he could run and would very proudly tell people that he could run fast! DJ loved playing with his cars and being around his sisters who were his best friends. He wanted to be wherever they were at. When DJ walked into a room he would come up and let you know he was present by flashing a smile, giving you a hug, or waving to you. He attended the New Trails Elementary School and graduated from Pre-K at the end of this 2017 school year. He was looking forward to starting Kindergarten and being at school with his older sister. He was loved by his teacher's, Mr. Bart Tittle and Ms. Amy Rice, and his nurse Ms. Loren Daugherty. Everyone that was around DJ loved him and thought he was a joy to be around. DJ was a quick learner and enjoyed school very much. DJ regularly attended church at the Corinthian MBC Of Jesus Christ with his great grandmother, Carolyn Addison and two sisters, Jai'Erra and Jai'Ziah. He loved going to Sunday school and then to the Nursery where he learned about Jesus. He participated in the Easter and Christmas programs learning his speech with enthusiasm. He was loved very dearly by his church family and held a very special place in the hearts of his extended grandparents Rev. Michael and Sis. Sharron Mayo. God called His little angel DJ home on Thursday, July 13, 2017, leaving to cherish his beautiful memory: his great grandmother and care-giver, Carolyn Addison; mother, Jasmine Caples; two siblings of the home, Jai'Erra Cook and Jai'Ziah Cook; other siblings, Monterrion Reed, Camara Cook, Dasja'Re Cook; grandfathers, Wendell Caples, Jr. (Alma) and Benny Cook, Sr. (Itoyia); grandmothers, Rolonda Addison and Rashee Cook; great grandfathers, Hubert Addison and Wendell Caples, Sr.; great-grandmother, Joanne Bohannon (Dwight); and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 20, 11:00 a.m. at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
