Mother Doris Priscilla Norton,78, was born February 23, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri to General and Almeda Lowe. Both preceded her in death along with her sister, Barbara Wade.
She accepted Christ at an early age and attended First Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. She continued her service to the Lord throughout her life. She later joined Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she was appointed the first Mother of the church serving until her transition home. Many of the members at Mount Sinai affectionately referred to her as "Auntie".
She attended Kansas City Missouri Public Schools where she graduated from Lincoln High school. She attended college at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri leaving there to pursue a career in the Airline Industry. She was employed by TWA as a Reservations Agent and continued with them until they closed their operations. She then joined the team at Vanguard Airlines working until her retirement.
Mother Doris loved to entertain at her home always inviting her family and friends over to her house on the weekends for card games, food and fun. Her house was the "go to" house where everyone knew that they were going to have a good time.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Darryl C. Norton (Dawne); four grandsons, Robert Witcher, Raphael Norton, D'Anthani Norton, and De'Waun Norton; three Great-Grandchildren, Kennedy Witcher, Ramiah Cushon and Robert Witcher, Jr., one nephew, James Wade, Jr., one niece, Kimberly Mosley, many great nephews and nieces including Wil Mosley, Jr. and Nicole Mosley, and many extended family and friends.
Funeral service Sunday, August 9, 2020, 3:00 pm at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private Disposition. Visitation 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to the COVID 19 Panademic all guest are required to wear mask.
