Obituary

Doris H. Tucker of Kansas City, MO passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021.

Doris was born April 26, 1944 to Lawrence Saunders and Cleo Allen in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her parents, brother Billy Waller, and son Alan Tucker preceded her in death. Doris grew up in Brunswick, Missouri and attended B.K. Bruce Elementary School and later graduated from Brunswick High School. In her early years she was very outspoken and became a pioneer during the times of segregation.

Doris met and married the love of her life, Lester Tucker in Brunswick, Missouri. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. They were inseparable and to this union 3 children were born, Alan, Mikel, and Cornetta.

Doris enjoyed being a stay at home Mom and working various jobs whenever she wanted to. Doris dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. She was an active member of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Mission and faithfully attended Sunday School. She formerly worked with the youth, kitchen committee and sang in the choir.

Doris's hobbies and favorite things included spending time with family and attending family reunions. She loved and attended all activities that her grandchildren participated in and she always volunteered at her granddaughter's school. She was also a room mother at her children's school. Other hobbies included gardening & planting flowers, playing cards, board games, watching movies and game shows, sewing, shopping, aerobics and Zumba. She loved to dress (her favorite color was gold).

She was a very friendly, loving, outgoing and an outspoken person that loved to talk & never met a stranger. She also loved singing in the choir, missionary work, and evangelizing. She had a beautiful smile and always made people laugh. She loved to hug her family and at the end of a conversation she would always say "love you".

Doris leaves to cherish in memory her devoted and loving husband of 55yrs, Lester Tucker; one son Mikel Tucker Sr. (Cynthia), one daughter Cornetta Lee (Larry Jr.), one sister, Daisy "Bunnie", one daughter-in-law, Sondra Tucker; Ten grandchildren, Rashad (Micaela) Tucker, Marc-Alan (Olivia) Tucker, Kalan Tucker, Samson Tucker, Angelo Tucker, Mikel Tucker Jr., Lenetta Lee, MiKyla Tucker, Larra Lee & Moriah Tucker. Two great grandchildren, Harper Lynn Tucker and Rashad Tucker Jr. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives & friends.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Due to Covid-19 "Services will be Live Stream Only" at mstcsunset.com Condolences may be shared at the website. Interment 12:30 pm, Monday, February 8, at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
