Obituary

Dorothy F. Jones was born on August 9, 1953 to the union of Lewis Robinson, Sr. and Florine Robinson in Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Avis Robinson, two grandchildren, DaJohn Mitchem and Marcedes Jones.

As a young girl Dorothy loved the Lord and she expressed thru music. She accepted the Lord in her life and united with the Greater Holy Temple Church of God In Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop C. N. Rucker. She sang in the C. N. Rucker Radio Choir. She later united with the Mount Washington Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Clarence Newton.

Dorothy was educated in the Kansas City Missouri Public Schools. She was a graduate of Manual High School class of 1971. Upon her graduation she was blessed to give birth to her son Marcellius Robinson.

Dorothy went on to further her education and obtained her associates degree in early childhood education. She was employed for twenty years with the Kansas City Missouri School District. She also taught at Don Bosco, the Catholic Diocese and the Federal Building Early Childhood Learning Center.

Dorothy later met and married R. L. Jones and to this union a daughter was born Rachelle Jones, he also preceded her in death. After retirement Dorothy relocated to San Tan Valley, Arizona. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and aunt and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy departed this life on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Meza, Arizonia.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Elder Marcellius Robinson, Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Rachelle Mitchem (Jermaine, Sr.) San Tan Valley, AZ; three brothers, Lewis Robinson Jr. and Richard Robinson (Violet), Kansas City, MO and John Lee Robinson (LaTonya), Louisville, KY; five grandchildren, Marcuan M. Robinson, Atlanta, GA, Trinity J. Banks, Kansas City, MO, Jermaine Mitchem , Jr., (Tiffany), Buford, GA, Jayvon Mitchem and Unique Tounian (Orion), Phoenix, AZ; three nieces, Kristen Alexander, Jamie Copeland and Dominique Robinson; goddaughter, Marlena Boyd, a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 17, at 11:00 am at the Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Visitation 9:00 am-11:00 am at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to the COVID 19 Panademic all guest are required to wear mask.
