Obituary

Dorothy Lee Purse passed away peacefully on Friday December 20, 2019, at the age of 85 in Kansas City, MO. She was born on May 20, 1934, in Minden Louisiana to Azzie Scott and Luther Webb.

She moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she later met and married the love of her life, James "JP" Purse on February 13, 1955 and to this union four children were born: Terry, Mark, Dennis and Lisa Purse. Her husband James Purse and her two son's Mark and Terry Purse preceded her in death.

They united with and remained long time members of Swope Park Congregation of Jehovah Witness for many years.

Dorothy received her education from Lincoln High School. Early in her career, she worked as a nurse at Menorah Hospital and Trinity Lutheran Hospital from which she retired after working for many years. Mrs. Purse loved cooking, baking her famous pound cake, reading, shopping, gardening, and spending time with her family. She nourished those around her with words of encouragement, wisdom, love, joy and faith. Mrs. Purse enjoyed a rich life filled with family and friends, most importantly she loved Jehovah and her Kingdom Hall family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Dorothy will be greatly missed by all of those that loved her and will forever celebrate the times she shared with us. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory brother Patrick Webb, sister Claire Pope, daughter Lisa Randolph, son Dennis Purse, daughter in law Rita Purse, granddaughters Andrea and Amanda Keeling, Alaina Carlisle, Maya Purse, Taneisha Purse, Veronica McGill. Grandsons Darius, Terris, Bryant, Damian Purse, 6 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 31, 2019 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness 10000 James A Reed Rd. Interment, Leavenworth National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Visitation services will be held Monday December 30, 2019 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Chapel and Tuesday from 10:00 am-11:00am at Kingdom Hall. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
