Robinson
Apr 16, 1973 — Nov 14, 2016
Dr. Pili Jelani Robinson, 43, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, peacefully departed this earthly life on Monday, November 14, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 16, 1973 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Jerry J. and Bessie J. (Topps) Robinson. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers and maternal grandmother. Pili was a devoted husband, father, friend and mentor. He accepted Christ at an early age and rededicated his life through baptism on March 26, 2016 at Linwood Seventh Day Adventist Temple. Pili graduated from Southwest High School in 1991. His joy for playing basketball paved the way for a college education where he went on to earn his B.S. in Criminal Justice, an M.E. in Counseling and a Ph.D. in Human Services. He was a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a member of the Missouri Juvenile Justice Advisory Board and an alternate member of the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice. His passion for the reform of juvenile justice systems and giving kids the correct tools to succeed led him to a career with the Missouri Youth Services Institute, where he served as the Director of Consulting Services until his untimely death. His infectious laugh, love and strength will be greatly missed. Pili leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Felicia Robinson of Florissant, MO; daughters, Raven (Garrett) Rhodes of North Carolina, Alexis Robinson and Keira Robinson of Florissant, MO; son, Jelani Robinson of Florissant, MO; parents, Jerry and Bessie Robinson of Kansas City, MO; brothers, Anthony Robinson and Randy Robinson of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Karsyn; wonderful in-laws, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other special relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 19, 3:00 p.m. at Linwood Seventh Day Adventist Temple. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the church. Interment Sunday, November 20, at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, Missouri. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
