Obituary

Our heavenly Father saw fit to send his Angel on February 4, 2017 to call Dwight David Gardner. He was born April 22, 1954 to the union of the late Theodore Roosevelt Gardner, Jr. and Dollie Mae (Eugene Raspberry) Robinson. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Willie Askew, Eddie Askew and Ronald Gardner; and Rose Marie (Mims) Gardner. Dwight confessed Christ at an early age in his life. In July 2016, he rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized in Jesus name. Dwight grew up Kansas City, Kansas, where he received his education and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1971. He worked as a mechanic and auto body repairman for seventeen years at Alex Byrd Auto Body and Repair Shop in Kansas City, Kansas. In 1985, Dwight decided to return to truck driving school to obtain his CDL, completing the Advanced Tractor Trailer Drivers course and graduating on November 26, 1986. In the early 1990's, Dwight decided to start working as maintenance technician for different health care facilities throughout the Kansas City metro area. He most recently was employed with Swope Ridge Geriatric Center from which he was forced to retire in April 2015, due to his illness. Dwight married Anita Washington and their union remained until the Lord called him home. He enjoyed family, friends, cars, music and watching television, especially WWE and sports entertainment. Dwight also found pleasure in playing dominos, which gave him the opportunity to 'talk his crap'. He was well loved by everyone and will be deeply missed. To celebrate his homegoing and cherish his memory Dwight leaves his wife, Anita Washington Gardner of the home; one son, Dwight D. Gardner of Kansas City, KS; one daughter, Dwan Gardner (Rico) of Kansas City, MO; four step-sons, Gary Howard of Charlotte, NC, Jeremiah Washington of Kansas City, MO, Eric Mims and Jerry Mims of Kansas City, KS; four brothers, Charles Gardner (Starletta), Don C.
