Dyamund "DJ" Shields, Jr. was born on January 10, 1993, to loving parents Dyamund Shields, Sr. and Nechelle Kidd. Preceding him in death, his father, Dyamund Shields, Sr., his maternal grandfather Lawson (L.D.) Gratts, and his paternal grandfather, James Shields, passed away. He graduated from Tolbert Preparatory Academy in Kansas City, Missouri.

DJ accepted Christ at a young age and attended The City KC Church. He was a hard worker and had an entrepreneurial spirit. DJ and his father, Dyamund Sr., shared a love for culinary and owned the popular restaurant CHICKEN MAC-N-CHEESE in Kansas City.

After Dyamund Sr. passed away, DJ continued the legacy and put the restaurant on wheels, making it a huge success. He was nominated for the best food truck at The Kansas City People's Choice Awards for 2023 and 2024. DJ often donated food to families and community events.

DJ loved spending time with his children and family. He had a close bond with his mother, enjoyed going to the movies with her, and called her for advice on new menu dishes. Their shared love for Spoken Word Poetry was a source of inspiration in their lives.

His children were his biggest joy. He enjoyed singing with his daughter Ryme and cooking with his oldest daughter Cymphany. DJ was excited about the new addition to the family, his son Dyamund III.

DJ had an undeniable special bond with his siblings & family. He and Tevyn enjoyed music and trying new restaurants. DJ and Damond created a rap duo called "DMoe & Kane" and recorded over 80 songs together. He was their gentle soul. DJ loved spending time with his cousins, cooking for family gatherings, and sharing his love for cars, music, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He always brought joy to his family and friends.

DJ is survived by his mother, Nechelle Kidd, his children Cymphany Shields, Ryme Shields, and Dyamund Shields III, his brothers Tevyn Woods, Damond Shields, Nicholas Shields (Payton), and Dallas Shields, his sister Brenda Lowery, his grandmothers Vickie Clemoens, Mary Malone-Davis, and Earie Shields, uncles Ricky Kidd (Dawn) and Wolfgang Shields, aunts Tiffany Helms (Corey), Kimberly Newman, Rachelle Martin, Sherrie Verner, his nephew Jayden Childress, his niece Karsyn Shields, and many beloved great-aunts, great-uncles, family, cousins, and friends.

DJ passed away on August 5, 2024, and will be greatly missed. He was dearly loved by his family, the Kansas City community, and friends. He will forever be in our hearts.
