Eddie J. Thomas, 75 of Kansas City, MO passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Parkview Nursing home, Kansas City, MO.
Eddie James Thomas was born on February 17, 1946 to the union of Mae Ella Cook and Fred Thomas, in Tiller Arkansas. He is the third of thirteen children born to Mother Mae Ella.
Eddie was educated in the Louisiana Public School System. In 1964 he graduated from Union High School. After graduation he attended Delta Area Vocational School where his course of study was Radio Television Repair. He successfully completed this program January 30, 1968. Two years after completing this program he was offered a full-time position with RCA and relocated to Kansas City, Missouri.
While in Kansas City he remained with RCA until General Electric merged with and brought out RCA. Throughout the transition of power, he remained a faithful and dedicated employee until his retirement.
Eddie was actively involved in his community. He was Vice President of the Blenheim Association. He was actively involved with the local school boards where he fought for the education of the children.
At and early he was baptized in the Baptist Church and joined the usher board. Later in life Eddie became a member of St. James Paseo United Methodist Church where his former pastor was Rev. Emanuel Cleaver II, and his present pastor is Rev. Dr. Emanuel Cleaver III. Eddie was a faithful and fruitful member. Throughout his membership at St. James, he actively participated in the Adult Usher Board serving as the President and receiving numerous awards and recognition. He was also the Vice President of the Missouri State Ushers Association.
Eddie was a role model to many. The way he lived his life was a testament to how much he loved God, loved serving, and loved his family. He enjoyed photography and taking pictures to capture life's most precious moments. He enjoyed music and most importantly being outside. Every year he worked tirelessly in his garden planting and growing fresh fruits and vegetables. He was actively involved in the life of his daughter Andrea Lorine Thomas and was lovingly called "Pa-Pa" by all his grandchildren.
For the past 28 years he and his companion and best friend, Connie, enjoyed life together. They traveled, served, and loved being in each other's company.
Eddie James Thomas departed this life on March 31, 2021 and will be sorely missed. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Mae Ella Harris and Fred Thomas. Two brothers Melvin and Larry and two sisters Frankie and Freda.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his companion and best friend, Connie Frazier. His loving daughter Andrea Lorine Thomas and her children, Alixzandra, Eddina, and Thomas. His blended family of children, Luke, David, Sherri, Kendra, and Tyra. Ten grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he affectionately called "rabbits." Lastly his siblings, Calvin, Carven, Oswald, Mirthy, Denise, Claudette, Linda, and Debra. A hos t of other family and friends who loved him dearly.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. Private Disposition. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
