Obituary

Edward Lucifer Dryden III 'Tre' ' was born on November 15, 1977, in Kansas City, Kansas to Sharon Gladys Marshall-Dryden and Edward Lucifer Dryden, Jr. He departed this life peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his home in Kansas City, Kansas, at the age of 39. Preceding Tre's death were his grandparents Isaac & Jessie Marshall, and Aline and Luther Neal; five uncles Parnell, Julius, Eurial, Charles and Lloyd Marshall; two aunts Elois Hibbert and Gennice 'Gee' Morris; two uncles-in-law Robert Veasley and Sydney Simpson; and two cousins Carl 'Deno' Marshall, Jr. and Kevin Marshall. At an early age he became a member of the Salem Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Tre' was educated in the Wyandotte County School System, receiving his high school diploma from F.L. Schlagle High School. He also received his forklift certification, home health care certification and was currently employed with Alliance Health Care. Tre' was known for his witty humor, kind heart, infectious laugh and warming smile. In his younger years he played all sports, football, basketball, baseball, as well as tennis. Throughout his life he was an avid music lover. At the age of four Tre' began writing music: he has written countless songs. Along with his lifelong friend Tommy 'TA' Watson, Tre' and Tommy released several CD's under the group name, 'Player Made'. He developed the 'Duce Big' persona during his music career and that persona has captured and won the hearts of many, from his young adult years until the day he departed us. 'Duce's' joy showed through music, that contagious smile, his laughter, joking and his willingness to help anyone who was in need. Most of all Tre' was the happiest when caring and taking care of kids, anyone's kids. These attributes will never be forgotten. He is survived by his mother Sharon; father Edward Jr. (Bonnie); big 'Brodi' Dwan who he snitched on frequently; two sisters Staci (Darryl) Wilson and Kristen (Anthony) Edwards; three uncles Carl, Rev. Garry (Delicia) Marshall and Martez Dryden; two aunts Carol Veasley and Gloria Simpson; nieces, (twins) Jade, Sydney and their Mom Janee', and nieces Taylor and Kaci; honorary sister since birth Valarie (Tony) Morris-Carter; beloved cousins Chevonne, Latricia, Brianna, Armani, Nemo, Damien 'Juice', Xavier, Stevee, Derande, Stevie D, and his mentor whom Tre' respected and looked up to Robert 'Bob' Jones; four precious Godchildren Kendric Serell, Jalyn, Ajaya, and Jadyn Pace; special friends Angela, Roz, Melody, Rita, Tee, Lish, Macias, James 'JP', Kevin, Tommy 'TA', Edward, Pooh, Che, Damon, and Marcus; along with a host of many, many, other family members and friends who will miss 'Duce Bigs' forever. Funeral services will be next Thursday, May 4, 11:00 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
