Edward Jesse
Mccallop Sr.
Nov 26, 1943 — Sep 21, 2023
Duddy was the second son of Alexander Harrison McCallop Sr. and Cleo (Blackburn) McCallop born on November 26, 1943. He departed this life and moved to his new home on September 21, 2023. His parents, two grandchildren, Tieara R. McCallop, great-grandson, Adom Randal and oldest brother Alexander Harrison McCallop Jr. preceded him in transitioning to heaven.
"A Time For Every Purpose Under Heaven"
Duddy accepted Christ at an early age. He received a Christian foundation at Second Baptist Church, in Argentine, Kansas, where he was a member for over 70 years, where he served as a Deacon. He became a faithful member of New Bethel Church in 2021, there he re-dedicated his life with a second baptism in April 2023. He also served as a greeter. He loved being a greeter spreading love and encouragement to everyone. Whenever he missed service, he was disappointed. He often watched services from home. Duddy received an education in the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1962 from Argentine High School in Argentine, Kansas. He also attended MCC-Penn Valley.
Duddy met the love of his life while in elementary school. He wrote a letter to her mother, the late Neoma Spearman, saying that he was going to marry her… marry her is exactly what he did. Edward and Patricia Elaine McCallop were joined as one in holy matrimony 61 years ago June 3, 1962. To their union, four children were born: LaRhae Denise Betts, Rhonda LaShelle McCallop-Fletcher, Jessica Lynn McClellan and Edward Jesse McCallop Jr. Duddy was a devoted father and very proud of his children and grandchildren. We will greatly miss our daily morning phone calls from Daddy.
He was raised by his parents and grandparents to serve and give back to the community. At the age of 16, he started driving for the R.L. McCallop Bus Company founded by his late grandfather, Robert L. McCallop Sr. Duddy continued the McCallop legacy of community and service throughout his life. He also served as a bus driver and mechanic for Ryder Student Transportation; he later retired from Ryder Truck Company. Before his retirement he worked many service positions including Sante Fe Railroad, TempMasters Bestline, AmWay, Over-the-Road Truckdriver and. He loved being the bus driver for the Senior Buddies at Seton Center. He also served his family as the Treasurer of the Blackburn family reunion and served in the community as the Vice President and Treasurer of the Washington Wheatly Neighborhood Association and the "Block Captain/Mayor." He looked forward to annual McCallop Family Reunions and family gatherings where he was declared the "Domino Champion." He would literally beat everyone and would know what his opponents had in their hand before they could play! He was excellent at arithmetic, like his dad, and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to master the subject.
Duddy enjoyed playing dominos, cards, hunting, fishing, and camping. Countless memories of family holidays (EVERY SUNDAY/SOUL FOOD) playing games, family outdoor activities, excursions, vacations, and family trips will forever remain. Gospel Quartet Singing and the Blues were his favorite. Oh, and let's not forget to mention ALL the Western Cowboys, watching them was one of his favorite pastimes, and you bet not turn the channel or sit in his chair! We can hear him firmly saying," LARHAE! GET OUT OF MY CHAIR!" He loved watching sports and was so proud of the Chiefs. He had a fond memory of attending the first Superbowl the Chiefs won in 1970.
"A Time to be Remembered."
Duddy leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved wife of 61 years Patricia E. McCallop, daughters: LaRhae D. Betts (John), Rhonda L. McCallop-Fletcher, Jessica Lynn McClellan (Kevin), Edward J. McCallop Jr. (Donna), brother: James F. McCallop Sr, (Patricia), one aunt, Ernestine "Chunky" Smith all from the KC Metro area and brother: Michael A. McCallop Sr., (Susan) of Wichita, KS, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, a host of sister in laws, brother in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A special friend that supported him and the family through thick and thin, Charles Ray Bradley.
