Obituary

Edward L. Ramzy Jr. was born on November 4, 1978, in Kansas City, Missouri, where he would grow up surrounded by a loving family. From a young age, Ed carried a quiet strength and a loyal heart—traits that would define him throughout his life.

He graduated from Oak Park High School in 1997, and it was clear then that Ed was destined for a hands-on, hardworking path. He went on to complete roofing school and proudly became a member of Roofers Local 20 in Kansas City. His commitment to his craft wasn't just about building structures; it was about building a future for himself and the people he cared about.

Ed had a big heart and a calm presence. He didn't need to say much to make those around him feel loved and supported. Family meant everything to him, and he held those bonds close. He shared a special relationship with his parents, Katherine and Ed Ramzy Sr., and was a proud father to his son, Ed Ramzy III, who was the joy of his life. His sister, Rolaunda Johnson of Little Elm, Texas, remained a constant in his life, and he cherished his role as uncle to Amiya Weary and Davion Weary.

He was deeply rooted in family history, shaped by the legacy of his grandparents, Elmer and Almeda Ramzy and L.C. and Veola Smith, all of whom preceded him in death. He also now joins his beloved cousins—Terrell Colbert, Antawine Ramzy, Jawana Williams, Steven Williams, and Earnest Jones Jr.—whose memories remained close to his heart.Ed also leaves behind a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were touched by his kindness and quiet wisdom.

Though his time here was shorter than anyone would have wished, Edward's presence was lasting. He was the kind of man whose love spoke through his actions, whose loyalty never wavered, and whose memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
