Obituary

Elaine Johannah Dickson, 78, KCMO, passed away on May 19, 2016. Born June 4, 1937 in Georgetown, Guyana, South America., she was the daughter of Alfred and Rachel Gumbs. Raised in Georgetown, Guyana, she attended St. Winifred Primary School. Elaine married Daniel Rudolph Dickson on December 26, 1958. He died on 15, 2013 after 54 years of marriage. Mrs. Dickson joyfully served as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 55 years with Newtown/Kitty Congregation in Georgetown, Guyana and Raytown Congregation in Kansas City, MO for the past six years. She served as a Regular pioneer until the time of her passing. Elaine found great joy in glorifying the word of Jehovah, our Creator, by teaching the 'Good News' of the now- established heavenly kingdom to 'those rightly disposed to everlasting life,' (Acts 13:48; Matthew 24:14), and learning about all of God's wonderful creations. She set a fine example by using every opportunity to tell everyone about the benefits of God's Kingdom for all mankind, even while she was hospitalized. Elaine was a home maker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing herself and children's clothing, baking and making syrup from fresh fruits and vegetables. She loved people and did not hesitate to share a meal or her time with anyone. Her home was always a place of refuge for anyone needing a place to stay. She also used this opportunity to reflect the glory of Jehovah who has never left her side. Her infectious smile and self-sacrificing spirit was passed on to her seven children, 30 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Elaine will be greatly missed by her 7 children, Bridget, Leroy and Lynette, Ewart, Wynette, Roxanne and Nebert, 2 son-in-laws, Colin and Patrick, daughter-in-law, Sharon, brother, Hubert Gumbs, grandchildren, Cornelius, Tonicia, Yohance, Stephon, Marcy, Minerva, Marissa, Mickel, Lennox, Stacy, Rachel,Orin, Natasha, Rhonda, Abigail, Akeem, Kevon and Kenroy, Junior, Venette and10 along with 5 great great-grand-children. She will be fondly remembered her nieces, Nicola and many more nephews, Roy and many more, cousin Jean, Shirlette and a host of other relatives and friends. Her smile and her beautiful voice will be greatly missed by the brothers and sisters of Newtown and Raytown Congregation and many more all over the United States, Guyana, Canada and England. The family wishes to thank all who cared and prayed for her during the last 10 months of her illness. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 11, 4:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the hall. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
