Obituary

On Friday, October 9, 2020, Mrs. L. Elaine Hudson, 81, passed away peacefully at the St Luke's Hospice House. Elaine was born to William and Laurene Jackson on February 25, 1939. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, Harold "Buddy" Hudson, her sisters, Patricia Miller, and Jean Etta Davis, and one brother, Johnny Jackson.

Elaine was educated in the public schools of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and graduated High School in 1958. She went on to attend Oklahoma Baptist University and earned an associate degree from MCC–Penn Valley as well as a Bachelor degree from Ottawa University.

Her first love has always been the Lord and was baptized at an early age at the Farrell Street Church of Christ in Shawnee, Oklahoma. After marrying, she moved to Kansas City and has been a faithful member of Swope Parkway Church of Christ in Kansas City, Missouri. Elaine was an integral part of several committees, Willing Workers, Building Committee, and taught several bible classes.

Elaine loved watching the University of Oklahoma football team play and was anavid sports fan. She also enjoyed shopping, and would go on to co-own a boutique shop. Besides that, you could find her watching QVC in the early morning hours.

Elaine always strived to be the best at whatever task she would do. She rose in rank at the Federal Government over her 30-year career.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Derrell Hudson, Kansas City,MO; John Hudson, Kansas City MO and her stepdaughter, Patrick McCauley, Sacramento, CA; sisters, Doris Maytubby (Willard) St. Louis, MO Glenda Stewart (James) Lawton, OK, Bettye Jackson, Kansas City,MO, Cecil Willis (Charles) Atlanta, GA and Marilyn Jackson,Kansas City, MO; as well as her brother,William Jackson (Lillian), Kansas City, MO and Paul Jackson, Los Angeles, CA; she also leaves behind her best friend, Sarah Friday, Kansas City, MO and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Greater Metropolitan Church of Christ. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-10:00 a.m. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to COVID-19 precautions in place. Social Distancing and Wearing of Face Masks are required.
