Elbert Harris was born in Kansas City, Kansas on March 25, 1941 to Elmer and Georgia Harris. In his early life he attended Lincoln High School. He went on to attend National College to study social work. He then went further to earn Master's Degree at University of Kansas in Social Work and Urban Planning.

Elbert met and married Doris House in 1965 and to their union were two children: Bradley and Alan Harris. Elbert was baptized at a young age while attending Paseo Baptist Church. He later joined and attended Bannister Road Baptist Church.

At the height of his work career as a building contractor, with his wife working along side of him, he started Courtney Day, Inc. Elbert notably was granted a patent for construction submittals.

He enjoyed his life with his family and friends and was active with golfing, tennis and basketball.

Elbert was preceded in death by: Bradley Harris (son), Elgia Allen (sister) and Deffanie Morgan (sister). He will be loved and missed by: Wife, Doris Harris (Leawood, KS). His son, Alan Harris (Janae, Kansas City, MO). Siblings: Elmer A. Harris (Beulah-Kansas City, MO) and Leon Braxton (St. Louis, MO). Half Siblings: Alferd Harris(Kanas City, MO), Kathi Patterson (Kansas City, MO), Georgetta May (Michael-Lee's Summit, MO) and Sonai Kelsaw (Keith- Orange, CA). Grandchildren: Brandon Harris (Dallas, TX), Jelani Harris (Kansas City, MO) and Victoria Robinson (Dallas, TX). Also a host of cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services Tuesday, February 18, 2020, 1:30 p.m. Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. Service conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
