Elcanyo Robertson-Dixon, 53, was born in Kansas City, Missouri at Old General Hospital to the union of Robert Dixon and Genola Hightower. Elcanyo was educated in the Kansas City Public Schools and was a graduate of Central High School, where he excelled in football and track. He furthered his education at Mid-America University where he ran track. In 1982 after college, Elcanyo joined the United States Army, where he met his wife, Joelle. Elcanyo was often referred to as 'Flash' due to his lightening like speed on the track. Those that knew him best knew about his passion to cook. He was best known for his baking ability, laughter and big heart. He always made sure his family and friends ate. Elcanyo departed this life on June 23, 2017 at his home in Mesa, Arizona. He leaves to cherish his memory: ten children, Brian Dixon, Elcanyo Dixon, Jr., Antwan Dixon, Terreil Dixon, Krystal Dixon (Terrence), Antonio Dixon, Cortina Alford, DeVonta Alford, Shantel Dixon and DeVont'e Dixon; father, Robert Dixon (Florence); mother, Genola Hightower (Eddie); three brothers, Keith Dixon (Lynn), Delmar Dixon and Erycke Dixon (Lateefah); one sister, Angela Dixon (Walter); honorary brother, Harry Willingham; two God-sisters, Lisa Rivera Patton and Maggie Rivera Davis; a host grandchildren, nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 15, 3:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the chapel.
