Emma Mae Holman was born October 17, 1932 to Richard and Mae Ella Brown. Emma received salvation at a very young age under the guidance of her mother (Mae Ella) who was known throughout Arkansas for establishing churches.
She met her lifelong partner, Ralph Holman Sr. in Blackton, Arkansas in 1951 and married in 1953. In 1957 they moved to Kansas City, Missouri along with three children to establish their family.
Emma pursued her career in nursing working at Gladstone Nursing Home as a nurses aide until she ventured off into entrepreneurship where she owned a laundry service. She later went on to own her own store front thrift shop, child care service, as well as a candy store. When she arrived in Kansas City, Missouri she became a member of Prayer Temple Church of God in Christ. Later in life, she became a faithful member of Peacemaker Church of God in Christ where she continued her faithful works as a church mother. Emma dedicated her love to the sick, homeless orphans, and many others outside her home.
Emma Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ralph Holman, Sr.; daughter, Rosalind Renee Holman (Penny); son, Donald Ray Holman, Sr. (Doozy); grandsons, Anthony Bergin, Augustus Alfred Holman (Lil Lane), Tyrance Demonte Holman (Twin Hog), Tyrone Lemonte Holman (Twin Hog), Taylor Tabias Holman; loving pet companion "CoCo"; parents, Mr. Richard Brown and Mrs. Mae Ella Brown; sisters, Thelma Hardy, Veloa Scockston, Rozella Pride, Lenora Brown, Katherine Davis, Authormay Murray,and Jewell Scott; her brothers, Eldridge Brown, James Brown, and Richard Brown.
She is survived by her only living sibling, Gurtride Williams of Kansas City, KS; her children, Freddie Lee Wyle, Bertha Mae Johnson, Diane Ford, Carolyn Pearl Carter, Ralph Holman, Jr. and wife Zepera Holman, Mack Richard Holman, Delorise Ann Wiley, all residing in Kansas City, MO. Emma also had 36 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services Saturday, December 15, 12:00 p.m. at Boone Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
