Emma Jean Jones was born in Portageville, Missouri, to the union of her devoted parents, Willie Meeks and Iona Meeks. From the very beginning, Emma embodied a spirit of strength, love, and resilience—qualities that would define the beautiful life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind.Emma was one of several siblings in a close-knit and loving family.
She was preceded in death by her cherished parents; her beloved son, Antonio Jones; her brothers, Lessie Dailey, Floyd Meeks, and Willie Meeks Jr.;and her sisters, S.T. Kershaw, Viola Meeks, Gloria Goldsby, and Clara Allen. Although she experienced great loss, Emma's strength never wavered. She held tight to her faith, family, and purpose. After graduating from high school, she moved to Chicago for several years but ultimately built a life in Kansas City, Missouri. It was there that she started a 22 year career with At&t. She dedicated many years of service to companies including At&t, Wilcox Electric Company, and ultimately retired from Selex.
Emma was known for her diligence, reliability, and the kindness she extended to those she worked with; Qualities that left a lasting impression. Emma's greatest and most treasured role in life was that of a servant family member. Her children—Antonio, Carlos, and Antoinette—were her heart. Her love was unwavering, her guidance was firm, and her devotion unmatched. She was very proud of Carlos military career, Antonio's singing ability and artwork. She was proud of Antoinette's dependability and for always being there for her needs.
To her children and grandchildren, she was not only a parent but a source of wisdom, comfort, and endless love. A woman of deep faith, Emma was a devoted member of Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church for over 45 years, where she joyfully sang in the Ladies Choir. She found strength in worship, and her church community was a meaningful part of her life.
Emma leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Antoinette Jones-Sanders; her devoted son, Carlos Goldsby(Glenn); her brother, Tom Meeks; her sister, Lee Gusta Meeks; six adored grandchildren; Taegan, Gabriel, Sarhai and Gianna Goldsby, Byron Sanders Jr. and Da Nyjia Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever be impacted by her love, laughter, and light.
Emma Jean Jones lived a life of quiet strength, radiant grace, and heartfelt generosity. Her memory will forever be etched into the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy—a legacy of faith, family, and unwavering love—will continue to inspire generations to come.
