Mr. Eric Thomas Grimes, Sr. was born on January 26, 1964 in Phoenix, Arizona to the union of Otha and Shirley Grimes. His father, Otha Grimes; paternal grandparents Otha Booker and Cora Mae Grimes and maternal grandparents Tom and Mamie Johnson preceded him in death.

Mr. Eric T. Grimes, Sr. received his education in the Kansas City, Missouri School District. He attended Paseo High School his freshman year and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1982. While at Paseo and Lincoln he ran track and played on the school's basketball teams. He was an active member of the 43rd Street Boys and Girls Club of America.

Mr. Eric T. Grimes Sr. married Miss Nina Murry on June 8, 1990 and to this union two sons were born, Eric Thomas Grimes, Jr. and Jordan Michael Grimes. Eric cherished spending time with his sons, family and friends. He was quite often the life of the party with his laughter and humor. His smile was infectious to all that was around him.

Mr. Eric T. Grimes, Sr. was previously employed by Hallmark Cards, Inc. and most recently by LC's Bar-B-Q. He was baptized and gave his life to Christ at an early age. He departed this life on April 12, 2018 surrounded by family at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mr. Eric T. Grimes, Sr. leaves to treasure his loving memories: his sons Eric T. Grimes, Jr. and Jordan M. Grimes of Kansas City, MO; his beloved mother, Shirley M. Grimes; one brother Michael Grimes (Me'chelle) of Lee's Summit, MO; one granddaughter, Miracle Grimes; three aunts Margo Williams of Sacramento, CA, Yvonne Boss (Joe) and Shirley Bennett both of Phoenix, AZ; and a host of loving nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
