Ester Mae Sharpe, 77, was born August 23, 1939 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Her mother, Inez Cage; father, William Coleman; brother, William Coleman, Jr.; sister, Beatrice Smith and son, Donnie Sharpe, Jr. all preceded her in death. Ester was educated in the public schools of Shreveport and moved to Kansas City at a young age. Ester was united in marriage to Donne Sharpe on February 14, 1959; the marriage was later dissolved. To this union seven children were born. She truly loved her family and shared an even more special bond with her grandchildren. Ester enjoyed reading and games, but most of all she found pleasure in watching television whether it was a good crime show or a current box office movie. Ester departed this earthly life on August 25, 2016 in the comfort of her home. She will be deeply missed by all whose life she touched. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Ivan J. Sharpe and Aaron L. Sharpe; four daughters, Yvonne Hill, Celestine Scott, Tanya R. Sharpe and April D. Williams; one sister, Barbara Coleman-Phillips; fifteen grandchildren, Tawanna, Trendika, Savannah, Ryan, Olajuwon, Amanda, Marisha, Wilson, Vanessa, Natalie, Aveon, Adrianna, Aaron Jr., Angela and Kieone; thirteen great grandchildren, Maron, Keyshawn, Maliyah, Kynlee, Amora and Delshaun, Amari, Dante, Aniya, Kyomoni, Uzziah, Makenzie and Massiah; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 31, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel.
