Ethel Lee Jefferson, 84, was born on May 15, 1932 to the union of Mary Cole in Shreveport, Louisiana. As a young child she moved to Joplin, Missouri and was raised by Rev. Lummie and Iva Milbon. The family then moved to the Kansas City area where she made her home over sixty years. Ethel was educated in the Joplin, Missouri public schools. She was a nanny for many years working in private homes. On September 13, 1969 she united with the Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Charles L. Williams. She served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher and in the Senior Women's Missionary Society until her health began to fail and she became deaf in 1996. Ethel was a loving mother and grandmother who had a special way of warming hearts and bringing laughter to her family. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She departed this life on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Medical City of Dallas Hospital. Her mother, Pastor and Sister Milbon and a son, Anthony Ulysses Jenkins all preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory: her only beloved daughter, Terri Marie Jenkins-Dixon (Marcus) of the home; nine grandchildren, Anthony 'Spud' Jenkins (Stephanie), Antonio Jenkins, Anitha Jenkins-McKinney (Rayshawn), Daisha Brooks, Ginea Jenkins, Allajiwan Jenkins, Jabril Jenkins, Sareah Brown and Keisha Weathers; seven great grandchildren, Alayla Jenkins-Mroz, Xzavier Mroz, Tyron Jenkins, Malik Jenkins, Aniah Jenkins, Aireyae Jenkins and Amonii Jenkins; a very dear play sister, Mother Ruth Gordon and a host of half sons and daughters, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 23, 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
