Evangelist Dr. Vivian E. Ewing 85, began her journey on July 10, 1935, and made her heavenly home on September 23, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in Kansas City, MO.
Dr. Ewing was born and raised in Kansas City, MO, where she was the middle child of seven siblings born to the union of Roy Beasley and Carrie Kenney-Beasley. She attended Wendell Phillips Elementary school, then she went to R.T. Coles Vocational & Jr. High School, she later graduated from Lincoln High School. She went on to receive her undergraduate degree from Penn Valley Community College, then transferred to Avila University where she received her Graduate Degree. Afterwards she began to accumulate her degrees in Theology and Ministry, at the Faith Bible College where she received her certificate of Ministry as she began to practice through out the community as and Evangelist. She later became a professor while teaching others at the Faith Bible College, in Independence, MO, during that time she also became a scholar, while working there, She also earned her Advanced Doctorate's Degree. While working at the Bible College she continued her education by receiving her Certificate College Graduate in the fields of Theology, Mission Work, Deliverance & Healing Ministry, Christian Ministry and many others.
While attending Avila University, Dr. Ewing chose her Major and was employed as a social worker at the Leeds Correction Center, where she transferred to the Jackson County Correction Center as a correction Officer. She was promoted to Social Case Worker, after she left the agency she spent her time as a caretaker for her father Roy Beasley.
Evangelist Dr. Vivian E. Ewing later started another career working at Internal Revenue Service as an IRS Agent where she later retired from.
Dr. Ewing was a motivator and an inspirator as she continued to volunteer in helping with feeding of the elderly and the homeless. Dr. Ewing dabbled in politics by being the first Black African American Woman to run for the County Executive Office in the Kansas City, Missouri District. Dr. Ewing was an avid runner where she spent time running in long distance marathon groups. Dr. Ewing worked in a Christian Elementary Bible School where she created in in-home schooling center in her home teaching and training her nieces, nephews, and God children. Dr. Ewing became a model with the Jossette Modeling Agency, which encouraged her and model Elaine Green to establish their own modeling agency called The Touch of Class of Kansas City. As an avid member of the Pentecostal Church of God In Christ, Dr. Ewing was selected by the Honorable Bishop Daniel M. Jordan.
Dr. Ewing is survived by her sibling brothers, James Beasley and John Beasley, her sister Carrie Barry Fleming, her children, Ms. Ronnie Ewing, Mrs. Romie Thomas, Michael Ewing and Jerome Ewing.
Dr. Ewing will be sadly missed by her 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god children, and other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be Saturday October 3, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 9:00 A.M-11:00 A.M. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to Covid-19 face masks are required.
