Evon E. Jones, 66, born January 26th, 1954 and passed away peacefully on October 1, 2020 at the home with family.
Evon was the sixth of seven children born to Johnnie and Vivian Moore-Jones. She was preceded in death by both parents, one sister Jonether Walker, and one brother, Lemoyne Jones Sr.
Evon accepted Christ at an early age. She was a life-long member of First A.M.E. Church of Kansas City, Kansas . She was a devoted member who adored her church family. Evon received her education through the Kansas City Kansas public school district. She was a graduate of Sumner High School class of 1972, where she was a member of the Honor Society and shined as a varsity majorette. She was employed at the United States Postal Service for 25 years, up until her death. Evon enjoyed life, she was energetic and full of spirit. She was extremely creative and found joy in arts & crafts, going to the movies, and she shared special bonds with her niece, Henrietta Rivas, and her granddaughter, Myesha Price.
Evon leaves to cherish her memory: Her one and only daughter, Mauri Kelsey of the home; one granddaughter , Myesha Price, of Shawnee, KS; two grandsons, Marquece Hayes and Malik O'Atis both of the home; one great-grandson Claude Hudson II; and one great-granddaughter, CaMiyah Hudson: one sister , Beulah Reid of Kansas City, KS.; and three brothers, Melvin Jones, Cleophas Jones, and Timothy Jones all of Kansas City, KS., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
Private memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, at 12:00 p.m. at First A.M.E. Church, family hour walk-thru 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. open to ALL. Any flowers, donations, or contributions can be sent to the First AME Church c/o the Jones family. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to Covid-19 pandemic face mask are required.
