Felisa R. Witherspoon, 64 of Kansas City, MO transitioned to heaven on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO. Felisa was born on December 9, 1956 in Kansas City, KS to Ida Joe (Martin)(Gibson) West. She was the second of six children. She grew up in Kansas City, MO and was raised in a God-fearing household. In 1975 she graduated from Manual High School in Kansas City, MO. A few years after graduating she held a career with the City of Kansas City, MO for a few years, to follow a career with the IRS for over 15 years. Felisa was preceded in death by her mother Ida Joe West, grandmother Mamie (Murrell) Martin, two brothers Adrian (Mohamed) Martin and Greg Martin, and one daughter Shirley. On September 4, 1992 Felisa married John Witherspoon and they were married for 28 years. Felisa bought two children David and Roger with her into the union and John bought five children John, Anthony, Patrita, Johnette, and Shirley into the union. Felisa was blessed to have 10 grandchildren. She always believed in God and strong family values. Felisa enjoyed fishing, gardening, DIY projects, playing cards, traveling and most important spending time with her family. Felisa leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband John. Six children to include four sons David McConnell (Mika), Roger McConnell, John Blankenship and Anthony Witherspoon all of KCMO, two daughters Patrita of KCMO and Johnette of CA; ten grandchildren to include Jayden, Taylor, Tyran, Asia, Lil John, Jameer, Jamia, Antanae, Anthony Jr, and Elemmuel; three siblings to include one sister Sheila Freeman (Ray) and two brothers Mike Martin (Linda) and Quentin West all of KCMO; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 7, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. No Visitation. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence, MO.
