Obituary

Floyd A. Newman, Jr. was born on July 11, 1937, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Floyd A. Newman, Sr. and Beatrice Newman. Both of his parents preceded him in death. He moved with his parents to Kansas City, Kansas when he was three years old. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1955. He was a member of the US Navy for 22 years. He was an employee of the United States Postal Service for 41 years before he retired in 2001. Floyd accepted Christ at an early age and grew up attending Bethel Baptist Church where he remained a member for 70+ years. He later joined Concord Fortress of Hope church, under the leadership of Pastor Ronald Lindsey where he remained until his death. As a member he served in the senior ministry and the backpack ministry. He also regularly attended the noon Wednesday bible study and sometimes led as the teacher. Floyd was a former member of the Prudence Lodge #6 and as well as the Koran Temple #33. He was also a member of the Black Angels motorcycle club. Floyd shared the joys of parenthood with former spouse Shirley Newman and to this union six children were born; Ricardo, Stacy, Carmen, Lucretia, Lucinda, and Nichole. He was preceded in death by his children, Stacy V. Newman, Ricardo A. Newman, Sr., Lucretia S. Cruz and granddaughter, Maya Newman. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Joyce C. Newman, of the home, three daughters, Carmen Y. Lee (Michael) of Kansas City, KS, Lucinda A. McDowell (Gregory) of Grandview, MO, Nichole A. Daniels (Jonathan) of Kansas City, KS, Stepson Jason McNeil Sr. of Grandview MO. Carol Y. Thompkins (Daughter-in-love/Niece) of Kansas City, KS, Mahasin J. Pledger (Daughter-in-love) of Raytown, MO. 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Plus, many more friends and host of other relatives. Graveside Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2022 at The Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville. 20109 Business Highway 13, Higginsville, MO 64037
