Obituary

Frankie Lee Hickmon, born on July 12, 1940, in the state of Arkansas to Willie Frank Hickmon and Ethal Lee Gaine, departed this life on July 29, 2024. His legacy of love and service leaves a profound impact on all who knew him.

Frankie was preceded in death by Jacqueline Mayes, and his brothers Joe Herman Hickmon, Robert Gaines, Larry Scott, Cleveland Hickmon, Cleophus Hickmon, Tolmon Hickmon, Eddie James Hickmon, and Richard Earl Hickmon. He was also preceded by his sons Eddie Wayne Hickmon and Charles (Willie) Hickmon, his daughter Barbara Ann Hickmon, and his stepson Frankie James (Sisco) Hickmon.

Educated in the public school system of Arkansas, Frankie was a pillar of his community. He was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Liberty, where he devoted time to feeding the homeless and supporting the winter festival for the youth of Bonner Springs, Kansas. Known for his generosity and commitment to others, Frankie also volunteered for the Harvester Food Program, coordinated block parties for his community, and helped those in need.

Frankie married Mayzell Hickmon on January 11, 1957. Their union was blessed with eight children: Robert Earl Hickmon, Charles Willie Hickmon, Ollie Frank Hickmon, Ethal Almetha Beasley (Leroy), Eva Mae Hickmon (Steven), Barbara Ann Hickmon, Eddie Wayne Hickmon, and Joyce Ann Hickmon (Frankie). Later, he had a son, Frankie Algeneo Barnes (Veronica), with Jean Barnes. In 2010, he was joined in life with Jacqueline Mayes and her children: Angelia Virginia Hickmon, Jennifer Chennel Hickmon, Lawrence Akeem Hickmon, and Frankie James Hickmon.

Frankie is survived by his first cousin Albert Smith, and his siblings: Selmon F. Wilson, Latricia Peterson (Willie), Keith Scott (Rebecca), Patsy Scott, Ronnie Scott, Argentina Solomon, Otha Hickmon, Robert Lee Hickmon, and Vernice Hickmon. His children Robert Earl Hickmon, Ollie Frank Hickmon, Ethal Almetha Beasley (Leroy), Eva Mae Hickmon (Steven), Joyce Ann Hickmon, Angelia Virginia Hickmon, Jennifer Chennel Hickmon, Lawrence Akeem Hickmon, and Frankie Algeneo Barner (Veronica) mourn his loss. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, extending to five generations.
