Fred Thomas, Jr., 82, was born January 14, 1935 to Fred Thomas, Sr. and Lucille Nunnelly in Kansas City, Missouri. Fred was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District, graduating from R.T. Coles high School. After completing his education, he was employed forseveral years at May Development Companyand B&G Maintenance until his retirement. In his early years, Fred developed a strong work ethic, and earned money for lunch and entertainment by shooting pool at Buster's Pool Hall on 12th Street. Fred truly enjoyed retirement and was an avid sports fan. He never missed watching a Royals or Chiefs game. He was alsoa big fan of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Fred departed this life on August 13, 2017 at Research Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maggie Thomas, and sisters Magaline Mason and Patsy Ann Nunnelly-Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Frederick L. James (Sue Ellen); daughter, Sharon Johnson (George); special cousins, Jim Nunnelly, and Fenwick and LaJeune (Sweetie) Roberts; special friend, Geraldine Carson, and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services Thursday, August 24, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E.
