Mcneal
May 26, 1953 — Mar 25, 2016
Freddie McNeal, 62, Independence, MO, departed this life on March 25, 2016 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, after a battle with cancer. He was born May 26, 1953 in Midnight, Mississippi to the union of Charlie and Ellen McNeal. His was preceded in death by his father, Charlie McNeal; and two brothers, Jimmie Joe Kimber, Sr. and Charles McNeal. Freddie accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Hollygrove Baptist Church in Leland, Mississippi. Freddie, along with his family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in 1967. He attended schools in both the Mississippi and Kansas City School Districts. Freddie attended the Bob White Camp in Knob Knobster, Missouri where he served as a youth counselor every summer for many years. He was employed with the Western Electric Company and Sexton Metalcraft for several years. His most recent employment was with the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, through Corporate Cleaning Group. He had a special love for the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Freddie was highly intelligent and smart! No task was too great or too small for him. He was a great worker with his hands; he could create, repair and fix anything he put his mind to. He loved children and enjoyed fishing, walking, talking, dancing, dominoes and playing card games. Most of all, he loved to eat! He had a passion for ALL people, skin color or ethnicity meant nothing to him. He was one who was very opinionated, sharing his opinion whether you asked for it or not. He touched the lives of each individual he encountered in a special way. Freddie will be deeply missed. Fred leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved mother, Ellen McNeal of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Rev. LeRoy Kimber of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Lula Hawkins (Anthony) and Carolyn Estell both of Kansas City, MO; special companion, Rosetta Riley of Shawnee, KS and her son J.R. Riley (Nicole) and their daughters, Jasmine and Ava Marie Riley of Belton, MO who he loved dearly; numerous nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces all of which he helped raise and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 2, 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
