Gennice Marvine Morris 'Gee' was born on September 7, 1942, in Solgohachia, Arkansas to the late Isaac and Jessie Marshall. At an early age and became a member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Solgohachia, Arkansas. She departed this life peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at her home in Pearland, Texas. Preceded her in death, five brothers, Parnell, Julius, Eurial, Charles and Lloyd Marshall, one sister, Elois Hibbert, two nephews, Carl 'Deno' Marshall, Jr and Kevin Marshall and two brothers-in-law, Robert Veasley, and Sydney Simpson. Gee was educated in the Conway, Arkansas County School System. Receiving her Bachelor's degree from AM&N Collegein Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Gee married Millard Morris in 1964, to this union a daughter was born, Valarie Renee. After relocating to Kansas City Gee worked tirelessly sometimes working two jobs, she was employed with Cheryl Crystal, Exxon Mobil Oil and ADT. Known for her ease in conversation, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that captured and won the hearts of many. Her joy showed through her constant smiling, laughter and joking around which will never be forgotten. Prior to her illness she was an avid games person - she loved competition of all kinds.The art of winning and the constant bantering with her opponents while playing Bid Whist, Spades, Dominos, Gin Rummy, and let's not forget her love of being at the Casinos and playing Bingo. Being a 'Gamer' Gee enjoyed playing her Kindle Fire(s), yes, she usually had two (2) of them going at the same time and her iPhone, playing Words with Friends, Dice, crossword puzzles and Sudoku just to name a few. Gee was also a reader, she read the daily newspaper, gossip magazines, articles of all types, and even Biographies. She was fascinated with all things President Obama and Michelle (you should see her collection on them). She also enjoyed watching basketball with her boys, looking at Reality TV Shows and she required the Game station on cable so she could keep up with one of her favorites Steve Harvey, she loved Family Feud. She was a clever and spunky lady always ready with a comeback especially if it was something she was passionate about. Gee departed this life on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at her home in Pearland, TX at the age of 74. She is survived by the love of her life, her one and only child Valarie Renee Morris-Carter (a loving son-in-law and caregiver Tony Carter, who passionately named herSweetBuddy.com), two wonderful grandsons, Stephen 'Stevee' Carter II who called her 'Buddy' and Xavier Carter I, who referred to her just as 'Sweet', one awesome Great Grandson Xavier Carter II, who she called 'Little Man'. Gee also leaves to mourn three sisters, Carolyn Veasley, Sharon Dryden, Gloria Simpson, two brothers, Carl and Gary (Delicia) Marshall, a honorary son since birth Dwan Dryden, loving to be granddaughter Destiney Torres, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will mourn her and miss her deeply. Memorial services will be Monday, January 9, 12:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Family hour will be from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
