George
Davis Jr.
Jul 4, 1954 — Apr 26, 2017
George Davis, Jr., 62, KCMO, passed away on April 26, 2017 at the home. He was born July 4, 1954 to the union of George Allen Davis, Sr. and Ruth Davis Cade in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents preceded him in death. As a lifelong area resident, George was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools and attended Paseo High School. He was a member of Memorial Church International under the leadership of Apostle Larry B. Aiken, where he was a member of the Men's Choir. He later relocated to St. Joseph, Missouri and united with the Holsey Chapel Independence Christian Methodist Church under the leadership of Pastor Mary McDonald. George was employed at Butler Manufacturing Company as a plant manager for twenty-five years, retiring in 1986. After his retirement, he worked as a counselor for a Drug Rehabilitation Program for several years. He was a mentor to many and was greatly appreciated by all he came in contact with during his time as a counselor. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help others. George was an advocate for finding God in sobriety for himself as well as others. He recently returned to Kansas City in 2016 and resided with his niece. He was an excellent cook and hair stylist, and also enjoyed interior decorating. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory: a sister, Delores A. Elias; niece, Meloney M. Elias; great niece, Brittany M. Elias all of Kansas City, MO; a host of cousins, other relatives, church family and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 6, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
