Gerald Weldon Edwards, Jr., 21, KCMO, passed away on September 22, 2016. 'Jamby' was born June 7, 1995 in Kansas City, Missouri, to his loving parents, Gerald Sr. and Cassandra Edwards. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Betty Jean McMullen, as well as his maternal grandparents, David Hamilton and Betty Jean Ross. Gerald was very smart and was educated in the North Kansas City School District, where he attended and graduated from Winnetonka High. He also earned college credits at Maple Woods Community College. Gerald loved God with his whole heart. He was baptized and attended Sheffield Family Life Center as a child. Gerald was employed at Granite City Food & Brewery. In his downtime he displayed extraordinary skills in writing poetry and rapping meaningful lyrics. Gerald was a great role model for his younger cousins and friends. Gerald leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, Gerald Sr. and Cassandra Edwards of the home; his only sibling and big sister, Kylee Edwards also of the home; paternal grandfather, Thomas J. Edwards (Juanita); seven uncles, Stanley, Greg, James (Paretta), Timothy (Darlene), Harold (Eileen), Kijan (Christine), Jerie; four aunts, Rosalind, Nina, Lynn, Makaunda (Steven). Gerald was loved and will be missed by a host of cousins and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 1, 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
