Obituary

Gerald Thomas Moore, 56, passed away on May 18, 2018 at his place of residence. He was born January 3, 1962 in Kansas City, Kansas to Willie Thomas Moore and Mary Alice Moore. His father and grandparents, Glen & Odessa McDonald, and Willie & Ada Moore preceded him in death.

Gerald accepted Christ as his Savior and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Bishop W.H. White, Sr. His mother kept him covered in prayer daily as she depended on God's guidance and protection over her children.

Gerald graduated from Hickman Mills High School. He later completed Body and Fender Shop Training, from which he received his Commercial Driver's License Class A to operate a combination of heavy vehicles including 18-wheelers. As a truck driver, Gerald worked for Swift Trucking Company, Craighead Trucking and LaFarge Rock Quarry. He was most recently employed with Gates BBQ.

"Jerry" or "J-Mo", as he was lovingly known, was always willing to help the elderly whenever he could. This spirit came from helping his mother and the qualities she instilled in him. His hobbies included video games, good old school music and biking. Gerald enjoyed relaxing in the park while fishing with friends, playing games, barbecuing, and talking about social matters. He was known for his basketball and roller skating skills back in the day. An avid sportsman, his favorite teams were the KC Chiefs, New Orleans Pelicans and the Minnesota Timberwolves. He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Rashad Moore; mother, Mary Alice Jackson; brother, Thomas Moore; sisters, Lynne Moore, Latreece Moore and Shneece Moore; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, special friends, other relatives and friends.
