Geraldine P.
Wilson
Apr 15, 1942 — Jul 15, 2019
Geraldine (Pollard) Wilson, 77, was born on April 15, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the only child born to Leon and Julia Pollard. Her parents; husband, Louis Wilson and daughter, Veronica Wilson Aaron, all preceded her in death.
"Gerri" grew up in Chicago, IL, where she attended Crerar Memorial Presbyterian Church and taught Vacation Bible School during the summers. She was educated at Jesse Sherwood Elementary School and graduated from Emil G. Hirsch High School. Gerri had a love for science and received a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology in 1965 from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, IA. It was in Iowa where she met the love of her life, Louis Wilson. The two married on March 12, 1966 in Chicago, IL and eventually moved to Milwaukee, WI raising two daughters. The Wilson family later moved back to Chicago and later settled in Kansas City, MO.
Gerri spent her professional career working as a Medical Technologist in the Microbiology lab at several hospitals. She worked at Saint Luke's Hospital for 28 years and retired in July 2007.
Gerri had a passion for travel, exploration, and making memories with her dear friends. It was at Saint Luke's Hospital where she met her second family, a group of co-workers who became lifetime friends. This special group celebrated life! Birthdays, dinners and the movies were their regular outings, but they also had a love for the arts and were season ticket holders to the Kansas City Repertory Theatre for over 25 years.
Gerri departed this life on Monday, July 15, 2019. She dedicated her life to her family and friends. She will be missed by all that knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter Meredith Roland (David); stepson Keith Clark (Karen) of Davenport, FL; grandsons Augustus Donaldson of Grand Rapids, MI and David Roland, Jr.; special cousins Rebecca Abrams, James Gibson and host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
