Gertie Jean Jones, 82, was born December 11, 1936 to James Mikle, Jr. and Thelma Fredrick in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Maxie Ray, Charles Mikle, Leo Mikle, and half-brother Willie Pendleton.

"Jean", as she was often called, graduated from C.H. Iron High School. She met the love of her life, J.T. Allen, and together had one son. After J.T.'s death she moved to Kansas City, Missouri and married John L. Jones. From this marriage she had five sons and three daughters.

Jean retired from General Motors after twenty-seven years of service. Her pastimes were cooking, spending time with family, playing cards, enjoying her yard, watching movies, and talking with friends and neighbors.

She leaves behind: six sons, Jerome T. (Kelly) Mikle of Lee's Summit, MO, Lorenzo Jones of Columbia, MI, John L. (Vaughnita) Jones, Jr., Chester B. Jones, Reginald Jones, and Stanley Jones all of Kansas City; three daughters, Renita D. (Kenneth) Glasco, Saundra D. (Calvin) Bandy, and Samanthia Carter-Jones all of Kansas City; five brothers, Wayne (Darla) Mikle, John (Regina) Mikle and Larry Mikle of Kansas City, MO, Ricky (Shirley) Mikle of Rocky Mount, LA and Marvin Morgan of Kansas City, KS; over ninety grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, July 27, 11:00 a.m. at Bannister Road Baptist Church. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on website.
