Obituary

SEASON TO BE BORN Gwendolyn McDaniel was born to the union of L.B. Chambers and R.Q. Ross on February 12, 1953 in Cleveland Arkansas. She departed this life on Saturday, June 1, 2019. Preceding her in death were her father and mother; brothers, Fredrick Ross, , Tyrone Chambers and Homer Ross; sisters, Parthenia Byers, Diane Ross, Janette Hervey and Beatrice Chambers; and a brother-in-law, Warren McKey.

SEASON TO LIVE Gwendolyn was educated in the Cleveland Arkansas School District attending Center Elementary School and Wonder View High School. She dedicated her life at an early age, joining Morris Chapel in Cleveland Arkansas. Upon moving to Kansas City Missouri, she joined Haven of Rest Baptist Church and Evangelistic Center under the pastorage of Reverend Nathaniel Nelson. She continued to serve the Lord and her church faithfully under the leadership of Reverend Monscenior Cunningham. During her time there, she taught Kindergarten Class in Sunday School, Bible Study and Ministers' Wives, Deacons' Wives and Christian Leaders. She also served on the church catering committee and the kitchen committee for the Vacation Bible School. She traveled with the First Lady Emeritus to various conferences and classes sponsored by the New Era District and the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Missouri.

Gwendolyn worked at the Arkansas Cotton Plant, Food Barn Grocery, Montgomery Wards and retired after 30 years of service with the Kansas City School District in the food service department. She also taught cooking classes for 10 years at the Kansas City School District. She was united in Holy matrimony to Samuel McDaniel on May 22, 1971 and to this union three children were born, Robert Lee, Katina LaKelle and Keenan Lamar McDaniel.

SEASON TO DIE Gwendolyn leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Reverend Samuel McDaniel; two sons, Robert Lee (Camila) and Keenan Lamar McDaniel; one daughter, Katina Lakelle McDaniel; three brothers, Hervey Chambers, Freddie Chambers (Jennifer) and Darrell Chambers (Marica); nine sisters, Ida Ross (Gene), Linder Ross, Ruth (McKey), Norma Robertson (Rob), Joyce Cunningham (Marcells), Kaye Perry (Kenneth), Rita Abrams (Kennth), Juanita Robertson (Rick), Myree Johnson (Carl) and Bonnie Reed (Roman); five grandchildren, Shalini McDaniel, Jaylon McDaniel, Jayden McDaniel, Ciera Anson and Cintera Anson; one great granddaughter, Auri Winn; two God-Daughters, Lauren Patton and Logan Patton; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, June 8, 11:00 a.m. at Haven of Rest Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
