Harold J. Cato was born on August 6, 1947, in Vernon, Oklahoma, to Opal M. Wright and Willmer R. Cato. His earthly journey peacefully concluded on May 5, 2026.
Harold received his early education in Vernon, Oklahoma, and later graduated from Hanna High School in Hanna, Oklahoma. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving with distinction during the Vietnam War.
Following his military service, Harold relocated to California, where he began his professional career with Southern Pacific Railroad. He later worked for Northwest Airlines before moving to Kansas City, Missouri, where he became employed with Delta Airlines. For years he served as head union steward. After many years of dedicated service, Harold retired from Delta Airlines. At an early age, Harold accepted Christ under the leadership of Pastor J.D. Burnley in Vernon, Oklahoma, a foundation of faith that remained with him throughout his life.
Harold was united in marriage to Margie Hemphill, and from this union they were blessed with a son, Hakeem Saadiq.
Harold will be lovingly remembered by his son, Hakeem Saadiq; stepdaughter, Dana Allen; sisters, Lisa (Rick) Silinzy, Annie McCoy, Earlene Lollis, and Doris Webb; brother, Wayne R. Cato; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will cherish his memory.
A special place in Harold's heart was reserved for his beloved grandmother, Reecie Wright, who served as a guiding light throughout his upbringing and nurtured him with love and wisdom.
He also leaves cherished memories with his special family: Rochelle Gray, Brian Johnson, Briana, Areana, and Ahman Cato.
Harold's life was marked by service, strength, faith, and love for family. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
