Obituary

Harriette Leona Stewart, 75, passed away on June 3, 2019 at Research Medical Center. She was born July 18, 1943, In Kansas City Missouri to Harry Shoat and Celestine Virginia (Lane) Shoat. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Frankie Lane, sister, Bessie Mae Cotton and a son, Anthony Jackson.

Harriette was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas public schools and was a graduate of Sumner High School class of 1961. After high school she attended Donnelly College and Kansas City Kansas Community College, where she pursued a career in nursing as a LPN. She worked at several hospitals, nursing homes, and did private duty nursing before finding her true calling working in long term care facilities. She was also a licensed real estate agent and licensed cosmetologist. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

Harriette was the embodiment of love and compassion. She was a very patient and kind mother to her children. She was a walking evangelist who was blessed with the gift of gab. She was always willing to share her testimony and her smile with anyone.

Harriette enjoyed dining out, shopping at garage sales and going to various thrift stores. She was an amazing woman who shared love and kindness with everyone she came in contact with. She will greatly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Ronald Jackson, Michael (Arlene) Jackson, Marcus Jackson, and Joy (Bobby) Sanders; grandchildren, Anita Reliford, Brionna Barber, Sydney Sanders, Jazzmyne Nicole Jackson, Anthony Maxwell Jackson, Marcus Jackson, Jr., Nadia Jackson, and Marquita Jackson; great grandchildren, Emoni Reliford, Jaylyn Reliford, and James Anthony Reliford; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, June 15, 10:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Highland Park Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
