Harvey Porchia, Jr., 77, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away on May 12, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born April 3, 1940 in Camden, Arkansas to the late Reginald and Priscilla Porchia. He was preceded in death by his brothers, R.G. and Lonnie. At an early age Harvey acknowledged his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and became a member of Good hope Baptist Church in Stephens, Arkansas. Harvey worked for the Camden Furniture Factory and also at a chicken hatchery in Arkansas. Harvey was united in marriage to Almerteen Sams, who also preceded him in death. Three children were born to their union. Harvey was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncles and friend who will truly be missed by all. He leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Edith Verlane (Pastor Wilbon) Brown of Chicago, IL, Roxie Lane Porchia Young of Peoria, IL and Harvey Keith Porchia of Orlando, FL; eight siblings, Margaret Strickland (Carlton) of Lee's Summit, MO, Marva Baxter, Billy Ray Porchia (Frances) and Bonnie Jean Graves all of Camden, AR, Ronnie Porchia (Linda), Dexter Porchia (Cynthia), Rev. Bruce Porchia (Belinda) and Dea. Phillip Porchia (Cynthia) of Stephens, AR; six grandchildren, Andrea Porchia Griffin (Eddie), Andre' Porchia-Brown, Robert J. Young, Frederic D. Young, Jamal B. Young and Andrew Young; eleven great grandchildren including Ariel Porchia and Alexandria Percy; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 20, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel.
