Obituary

Pastor Hattie Lee Reed-Newton

December 27, 1929 – May 5, 2025

Pastor Hattie Lee Reed-Newton was a powerhouse in the Kingdom of God—a devoted servant, fearless leader, nurturing matriarch, and a walking embodiment of ministry. Born December 27, 1929, in Ralph, Alabama, to Parker Spurgen Reed and Lullie Knox-Reed, she lived 95 remarkable years poured out in service to God, her family, and the community.

A natural caregiver and leader, she began ministering long before she ever held a title. In the early years of motherhood, Hattie would drive through the neighborhoods and housing projects of Kansas City, gathering children who needed hope. She brought them to her home, held powerful, Spirit-filled worship services right in her living room, fed them with love, and sent them back covered in prayer. Her house was a sanctuary. Her heart was a safe haven. Her ministry was alive wherever she walked.

She earned her teaching degree from Saint Mary College in 1973 and spent over two decades molding young minds as an educator. Later, she worked in security at Wells Fargo, but her life's calling was always ministry. Hattie faithfully served as the Pastor of Full Gospel Holiness Temple in Kansas City, Kansas, preaching truth, raising up leaders, and interceding for the people until her final days.

Pastor Hattie was united in marriage to the late John Junal Clark, and after his passing, later married the late Clifton Newton. Together they built and nurtured a blended family, anchored in faith and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Parker and Lullie Reed; both of her husbands, John Junal Clark and Clifton Newton; her beloved son, Jimmy Lee Clark; her son-in-law, Andre Clark; and all of her six brothers and four sisters, each of whom she loved dearly.

Left to cherish her memory and carry forward her legacy are her children: Anthony Clark Sr., Donna Renae Clark-Agnew, Fatimah Marie Clark-Price (Charles), and Theresa Ann Clark-Timms (Michael). She also leaves behind 43 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, spiritual sons and daughters, and beloved friends.

Pastor Hattie personally helped raise several of her grandchildren and continued to be a pillar of strength for generations. She was a woman of deep prayer, passionate worship, and prophetic wisdom. Her voice may now be still, but her legacy continues to speak loudly through those she poured into. She has fought the good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith. Now, a crown of righteousness awaits her.

To God be the glory for the life, love, and legacy of Pastor Hattie Lee Reed-Newton.
