Hazel T. McKeel, 88, KCMO, passed away on April 27, 2017 to awaken in heaven with her Lord and Savior. She was born April 9, 1929 to the union William and Mary E. Coleman in Kansas City, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings and her husband, Bobbie McKeel. Hazel attended Dunbar Elementary, Northeast Junior High and Sumner High Schools. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age at Sunrise Baptist Church under the leadership of her grandfather, Rev. William Cook. Hazel worked in the nursery of St. Joseph Hospital for several years. She went on to establish her own in-home day care, which she operated until retiring. Although she never had children of her own, was loved by many children. She was witty with a great sense of humor, and loved to smile. She enjoyed sewing, painting, interior decorating and various other crafts. She leaves to cherish her memory: her sisters, Betty Coleman and Doris Coleman both of Kansas City, MO; a host of nephews and nieces, and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, May 5, 10:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church.
