Obituary

Helen Morris, 83, was born October 12, 1934 in Dumas, Arkansas to the late William H. and Beulah (Jackson) Cobb. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Beulah Lee Cobb.

Helen received her education in Watson, Arkansas. After completing high school, she went on to receive her certificate of cosmetology in Chicago, Illinois which granted her the opportunity to work as a cosmetologist for many years. Helen later worked at a local factory where she became the union steward for a number of years, and was able to travel each year. After retiring, she relocated to Kansas City, Missouri.

Helen was saved at an early age in Dumas, Arkansas at Jerusalem Baptist Church, and later joined Pleasant Green Baptist Church when she relocated to Chicago, Illinois. She was also a long term active member of the NAACP Southside Chapter in Chicago. Helen was a loving, kind and compassionate woman who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed family gatherings where she was able to talk to loved ones about old times.

Declining health issues caused Helen to need 24/7 care and she moved into Lakewood Long Term Care Facility until her passing on April 2, 2018.

She leaves to mourn: her sister, Nancy Ann Cobb of KCMO; an aunt in Pine Bluff, AR and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
