Hollie B. Denson Jr. was born January 20, 1949, to Hollie B. Denson Sr. and Exzetta Mae Pickens-Parker in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the sixth child born to this union. Hollie departed this life Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 73 years of age.
Hollie attended Dunbar Elementary School in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1967. After graduating high school, he moved to Spencer, Oklahoma and lived with his Aunt Clarice before joining the U.S. Army in February 1969.
Hollie was active in the Vietnam War where he fought and served his country. Although he suffered greatly Hollie was very proud of his Military background. He was very excited to have recently traveled to visit the Memorial Statue of General Colin Powell.
Hollie loved to spend time with his wife Shawn of 9 years watching Old Western and Cowboy movies, listening to old school music from the 60's, outings to the shopping malls, and visiting with family and friends. Hollie was a kind and gentle sole whose smile could brighten up a room. He gave to all those in need and would give his last to his friends and family.
Hollie loved his family and spending time with them. To everyone that know Hollie knows his number one Love was to his Lord God Almighty. He loved to read his Bible and going to church. Hollie was such a joy to be around.
Hollie was preceded in death by his Grandparents: Sim and Rhoda Pickens, parents; Hollie B. Denson Sr. and Exzetta Mae Pickens-Parker (Infant child died at childbirth with mother); stepfather William D. Parker Sr.; sisters: Helen Redmond, Victoria Denson, Beauty B. Thompson; brothers: Scottie Denson and Victor Denson.
Hollie leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Shawn Denson of Kansas City, Missouri, sisters: Unestine Cannon of Haywood, California, Celestine Capart of Ft. Worth, Texas, Eleanor Wyatt of Kansas City, Missouri, Joyce Posey of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers William (Billy) D. Parker Jr of Kansas City, Kansas, Tony Denson of Kansas City, Kansas, Terry B. Denson of Columbia, Missouri, Garry Denson of St. Charles, Missouri, Glen Denson of Texas, Jackie and Jacklyn Denson (twins) of Kansas City, Missouri and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
He will be missed by all.
