Hortense (Barber) Goines, 88, was born on November 3, 1929, in Grady, Arkansas to Tom and Ruthea Barber (McGill). She was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Jean; sons James E. and Marion Goines Jr.; parents Tom and Ruthea Barber; sisters, Ceolia Barber (Webb), Georgia Barber (Nun) and five brothers, Henry W. Barber, Theolius Barber, Johnnie Barber, Manuel Barber and Henry C. Barber. Hortense graduated High School in Pine Bluff Arkansas and was a member of Trinity Temple Christ of God in Christ. On January 8, 1953, Hortense married the love of her life, Marion W. Goines Sr. Hortense and Marion were happily married for 65 years and together they raised seven children. Hortense fell asleep in death on August 14, 2018, at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a loving wife, mother and grand-mother. She was an inspiration to all of her children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by: her husband, Marion W. Goines Sr.; daughters, Sherry Williams (Leroy), Patricia Cooper (Artie) and Kelly Williams (John decd.); sons, Donnie R. Goines and Leonard Goines (Brenda); twenty two grand-children; thirty four great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services Friday, August 24, 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the church.
