Obituary

James Charles Antwine, 84, KCMO, passed away on May 30, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House. He was born July 31, 1932 to the union of Nick and Jessie Antwine in Krum City, Texas. Both parents, two brothers Robert Antwine and Cornelius Antwine, Sr., and one sister Lena V. Jones all preceded him in death. James graduated from Douglas High School in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on February 23, 1961. He was employed at the U.S. Postal Service as a supervisor until retiring in 1987. James married Johnnie Ruth Kemp and to this union one son was born. In 1956 James married his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby Hervey, and to this union four children were born. J.C. accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He was a loyal parishioner who served the Lord and the Parish in many different ways. He was a member of the Men's Club, the Agape Sowers and the church choir. He was also a longtime volunteer for Harvester's. James loved his Parish and giving service to others In his spare time, James enjoyed playing the lottery, fishing, gardening, traveling, barbecuing and making homemade barbecue barrel grills. He will be sorely missed. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Ruby Hervey Antwine; two sons, Dwight Antwine and Mark Antwine, (Renetta); three daughters, Corlis Antwine, Brenda Jordan (Dennis) and Terri Antwine; one brother, Lenise Antwine; six grandchildren, Christopher Ray Jordan, Demond Jordan (P.J.), April Antwine, Joshua Antwine, Randalyn Campbell and Angel Tooley; ten great grandchildren, Nicole Scott, Nyla Scott, Jasreen Jordan, Jiya Jordan, Payton Antwine, Makenzie Antwine, Chance Antwine, Rashaun McBride, Harper Campbell and Royce Harris, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, June 9, 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
